Poem
by Curtis Barnes - 8/31/04
The Upper
Arkansas River Valley area of Colorado that AVAS calls its
home is well known for its
mild weather, sunny days and starry nights.
However it often seems that if our Astronomy Club decides
to call a star-gazing meeting, the sky will immediately
cloud over just at the scheduled time. This has happened
often enough that one of our member's was inspired to compose
the following poem.
Star
Gazer's Lament
By Curtis Barnes
We scheduled a meeting
of the Astronomy Club
To see Ursa Major and her little bear cub.
But I gazed at the
sky and saw nary a star.
And frankly, my dear, I won't travel that far
To stare at a gray
cloud and drizzling rain.
We scheduled a meeting but the weather's a pain! |
