Arkansas Valley
Astronomical Society is a club of amateur astronomers,
night sky enthusiasts, and telescope lovers based in Colorado's
beautiful Upper Arkansas River Valley. Most of our
members live in Buena Vista & Salida, but
we have members from Leadville & South Park,
and part time members who spend only part of each year in
our valley.
Whether you are serious about astronomy, or just wanting
to learn more; we encourage you to JOIN
AVAS and attend some of our meetings. We are a 'laid
back' club, getting together approximately once a month to
"talk stars", look through members' telescopes,
socialize, and generally learn from each other about the night
sky and all its wonders.
Check out our Astronomy
News page for the latest issue of our Club Newsletter,
find out when and where our next scheduled meeting will be,
and to find out all the latest astronomy related events and
happenings in the world.
See the
Astronomy Articles page for articles and instructional
astronomy stories written by members of our club, or about
our club. Also our Astronomy
Links page references other Astronomy related websites,
some by members of our club. Finally, the AVAS
Members page has a list of those in our club... maybe
you already know one of us.
Finally if you are interested in becoming
a member, see our Join AVAS
page, or Contact Us for more
information.
Enjoy our website, and help keep Colorado's
beautiful night skies dark!
