High school grades 9-12, students must be 16 or older prior to enrollment. Teacher to student ratio averages 1:13; all CCHS teachers have an earned Master's Degree or higher. CCHS provides an academic, individualized alternative education leading to fully accredited high school diploma. CCHS also offers extensive school-tocareer program. Enrollment for 2003-2004 was 38. Colorado Mountain College is the largest community college district in Colorado, spanning 12,000 square miles, and serves the people of the Central Rocky Mountains as their primary collegiate resource.
Every year, over 20,000 full and part-time students enjoy classes at 12 sites including the CMC Center in Buena Vista. Locally the College offers programs leading to Associates in Arts, Arts/Business Emphasis, and Applied Sciences, all of which are transferable to four-year institutions. They offer as well Certification programs in Business, Computer, Accounting, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood programs and Small Business Management. They also offer training in basic computer skills, business training and one-day workshops.
Thanks to the support of CMC grants, adult basic education and preparation to the GED is offered at no cost. Academic counseling, GED testing, financial aid services are available locally.
