Dillon, Colorado Mountain Activities & Recreation

Perhaps best known as the center of Summit County during the snow-season for its proximity to all of Summit County's ski resorts, Dillon has more to offer than meets the eye. Summer sees Dillon as a fly fisherman's dream come true, being so close to the Blue River - boasting salmon runs come fall - the Snake River and Ten Mile Rivers. Or take your sailboat out on Dillon Reservoir, enjoy the tranquility and fish for deep-lake mackinaw and trout. The Colorado Trail is here, welcoming hikers and mountain bikers alike to come enjoy the challenge of the Rockies, as well as open trails through National Forest. Take on a 14,000 foot mountain or meander your way through rolling valleys, or opt for a cattle drive and round up a herd of Longhorn cattle. Whitewater rafting is of course a favorite among locals as well as attracting international rafter and kayakers to the Blue River when the waters are high and breathtaking.

When visiting during winter, bring your sense of adventure with you. Snowmobiling, snowshoeing, sleigh rides and dog sledding accompany skiing and snowboarding as adventure to fill your days. Enjoy night skiing in nearby Keystone, one of the few resorts in Colorado offering skiing after dark.

No matter what season you chose to visit Dillon, there's always something to keep you busy. The listings in our pages above will help you plan the perfect trip into the Rocky Mountains.
