Where do we start. The list of things to do outdoors in Sargents, Colorado, is long and extensive. For a small town, it has big adventures.

Start in spring, when the snows melt and 4-wheeling and ATVing is at its messiest. Come and see the aspen leaves bud and blanket the mountain with a pale green glow. Summer brings whitewater rafting nearby, kayaking, mountain biking and hiking on the hundreds of trails out of Sargents as well as those on Monarch Mountain not 15 minutes away. A marina is within 30 minutes, and you'll find boating and fishing on the water as well as fishing out your front door in Sargents itself. Guided and unguided horseback trails lay within 15 minutes of town as does hunting, whether guided or not, in the Gunnison National Forest with, of course, proper permits. Take a tram or gondola ride up Monarch Mountain to end that perfect day, or head to the hot springs a short drive from town and soak all that activity out of your muscles.

When the snows fly, Sargents is the perfect place to spend your vacation. A short 15 minutes brings you to the spectacular Monarch Ski Resort and some of the best natural snow you will find anywhere in the state. Snowmobiling is right in Sargents, rentals and guides available for a fantastic day on the snow. Snowshoeing and cross country trails are available both at Monarch Mountain and right in Sargents. Ice fishing, skating and sleigh rides will complete your day in the Rockies and leave you wondering why you didn't come here sooner.
