Westcliffe, Colorado Sight Seeing, Festivals, Window Shopping

There's nothing like seeing the mountains in all their splendor, spring or fall. When you come to Westcliffe this season, you'll be delighted to find a handful of spectacular scenic drives and trails just waiting for you to explore.

Take the Hermit Pass trail and experience a 30 mile round trip drive. If you get out and walk at the campgrounds crossing the creek, you'll be rewarded with seeing Hermit Falls. Keep hiking another 1/2 mile and you can spend your afternoon at Hermit Lake, rife with wildflowers and wildlife. Along your drive you'll see Horseshoe Lake by the road, and less than a mile further on you'll find Hermit Pass itself. If you're ambitious, you can hike to the summit from here, towering at 13,550 ft.

There's a Ghost Town scenic drive here as well, driving by or through the ghost town of Querida and the famous Bassick mine. Further up is the Hosa Flats, Rosita and Junkins Park. A 40 mile round trip drive, this is a great historical trip to take.

The Medano Pass will take you to the Great Sand Dunes, an 86 mile all day trip for 4-wheel drive vehicles. The Mining Loop, a 34 mile round trip, holds old settlements, mines and miner's houses still standing in the state they were left.
