Estes Park, Colorado Mountain Activities & Recreation

Curled in the embrace of the Rocky Mountain National Park and Roosevelt National Forest, Estes Park is a breathtaking picturesque town rife with wildlife, mountain scenery and enough trails and scenic drives to keep you coming back for more. Drive the Trail Ridge Road over the Continental Divide, or the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway during summer months and see wildlife such as elk, mule deer, fox, bighorn sheep along the road - something that rarely happens anywhere else in Colorado - and mountain goats, all without the need to hike into the backcountry to get a glimpse. Of course hiking the 350 miles of trails around Estes Park is a favorite venture of locals and tourists alike, ascending to heights that will challenge your stamina and clear your head with the fresh mountain air.

Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park are also designated a Global Important Bird Areas, as they offer 280 bird species in their pristine high-alpine habitat, so bring your binoculars along. National Geographic says "There could hardly be a more beautiful spot to see high-country birds than Rocky Mountain National Park", and offers highlights in their online article titled "Rocky Mountain National Park Bird Watching"

No matter your taste for adventure, whether it's extreme or family oriented, Estes Park is the perfect place to escape from the bustle of the world and explore an entirely new one. A wild one.
