Once a very sacred area for the Ute and Cheyenne tribes, Manitou Springs (meaning “spirit springs”) has become a visitor’s paradise. Home to nine named mineral springs just inside of town, this little town is rich with history and culture for the discovering.
Ride the Manitou and Pikes Peak Railway up to a breathtaking elevation of 14,110 feet at the top of Pike’s Peak. Explore the Cave of the Winds, sweeping you back in time to stand side by side with the Ute and Cheyenne. See the Garden of the Gods, or climb up into the Anasazi cliff dwelling ruins. Indulge in history by experiencing the Ghost Town Museum, or come see live entertainment with old fashioned chuck wagons shows and melodramas. Add to all this a Mountain Zoo, a Dinosaur Resource Center and a Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, and you have more to do and see than one vacation can perhaps cover.
